Investigating the structure of star-forming regions using INDICATE

چکیده

The ability to make meaningful comparisons between theoretical and observational data of star-forming regions is key understanding the star formation process. In this paper we test performance INDICATE, a new method quantify clustering tendencies individual stars in region, on synthetic with sub-structured, smooth, centrally concentrated distributions. INDICATE quantifies amount stellar affiliation each star, also determines whether above random expectation for region question. We show that cannot be used overall structure due degeneracy when applied different geometries. detect differences local surface density its mass segregation. then compare it other methods such as segregation ratio $\Lambda_{\rm{MSR}}$, $\Sigma_{\rm{LDR}}$ cumulative distribution positions. detects significant most massive they are at centre distribution, corresponding areas greater density. When subset 50 can signals apply following nearby regions: Taurus, ONC, NGC 1333, IC 348 $\rho$ Ophiuchi find diverse range these regions.

The Chemistry of Star-Forming Regions

During the last quarter century, chemists have responded magnificently to the challenges raised by astronomers in their attempts to understand the variety of molecules detected in interstellar clouds. Observations have shown the chemistry of these regions to be surprisingly complex, and now more than 100 molecular species have been identified in interstellar and circumstellar regions of the Gal...

The metallicity of circumnuclear star forming regions

We present a spectrophotometric study of circumnuclear star forming regions (CNSFR) in the early type spiral galaxies: NGC 2903, NGC 3351 and NGC 3504, all of them of over solar metallicity according to standard empirical calibrations. A detailed determination of their abundances is made after careful subtraction of the very prominent underlying stellar absorption. It is found that most regions...

Dynamical evolution of star forming regions

We model the dynamical evolution of star forming regions with a wide range of initial properties. We follow the evolution of the regions’ substructure using theQ–parameter, we search for dynamical mass segregation using the ΛMSR technique, and we also quantify the evolution of local density around stars as a function of mass using the ΣLDR method. The amount of dynamical mass segregation measur...

Herschel spectral surveys of star-forming regions ***

High resolution line spectra of star-forming regions are mines of information: they provide unique clues to reconstruct the chemical, dynamical, and physical structure of the observed source. We present the first results from the Herschel key project “Chemical HErschel Surveys of Star forming regions”, CHESS. We report and discuss observations towards five CHESS targets, one outflow shock spot ...

Chandra Studies of Star Forming Regions

When observed with sufficiently high spatial resolution and sensitivity, star formation regions are unusually complex X-ray sources. Low-mass protostars and T Tauri stars, Herbig Ae/Be stars, OB and Wolf-Rayet stars are seen at levels 28 ≤ logLx ≤ 34 erg/s. Highamplitude variability from magnetic reconnection flares are often present. From past star formation episodes, supernova remnants and X-...
